Archaeologists are of the opinion that dates-tree gardens were created 5,000 years ago. Date palms have been planted in Iran since ancient times and before Achaemenid dynasty.

The date palm grows in tropical and semi-tropical regions such as Iran. Although it is believed to have been originated from Mesopotamia, Saudi Arabia, and northern Africa, the scientific studies reveal that the date palm is a member of a species called” P.H. SIVESTRIS” which is indigenous to India. Archaeologists are of the opinion that palm-tree gardens were created 5,000 years ago. Date palms have been planted in Iran since ancient times and before Achaemenid dynasty. This tree has been referred to in SASANIAN literature, i.e. the book “BANDHASHAN”. In Chinese reference books, the country of Iran or as pronounced in Chinese language “Bousi” is known as the land of date palm— called Persian jujube and 1,000-year-old jujube in their language. In the late 9th century, the date palm was taken to China from Iran and was planted there. Amongst European countries, Spain has a longer history in growing date palms.

Variety Of Iran Dates

Piarom/Marium Dates

Piarom dates is an expensive and very valuable date. This date is one of the most expensive and high quality and of course the most well-known date product in Iran. Piarom dates are also known in world markets as Maryam dates or chocolate dates. The area under cultivation of Piarom dates is 2544 hectares.

Mazafati Dates

Mazafati is a cultivar of the palm date. It is a dark, soft, fleshy and sweet date of medium size, about 2.5–4.5 cm with a relatively high moisture content of between 32 and 35%, varying with the time of harvest and the location of the grove.

Rabbi Dates

Rabbi Date is a kind of commonly cultivated date in Iran. With dark brown color, and meaty flesh, sticking to its skin, Rabbi is considered a semi-dried kind of date. Our Rabbi dates are picked from ripe fruits and cleaned, sorted and X-ray Scanned afterwards.

Kabkab Dates

Kabkab dates are believed a precious wet variety of dates for the moisture content of that it has about 18%. It is 3.5 cm at length and oval in shape. The color of it varies from dark brown to yellow, following the ripeness because of the long and gray pits tightly sticking to its flesh.

Khasoyi Dates

These dates are also the smallest dates in Iran and the world and the best type in the market is light brown in color, the flesh and skin of the date are stuck together. This product is classified as semi-wet dates. The sugar of this delicious date is natural and does not cause any problems for diabetics.

Shahani dates

This dates are harvested softly but it is also used as dried dates. Shahani dates have a thin skin that and also its skin is easily detachable. Some of the Shahani product is harvested in the form of Kharek, and Kharek also has a pleasant taste. It is widely consumed in Iran due to the good taste of this dates.

Kali Dates

What is Kali Dates? Kali Date is one of the most popular types of dates in Iran and has been able to attract many enthusiasts due to its quality.
